Youth & Family Counseling

History

Youth & Family Counseling (YFC) is a private not-for-profit social service agency offering quality and affordable counseling, education and support programs for the treatment and prevention of mental concerns.  The purpose of the agency is to:

• Assist clients who are experiencing stress which interferes substantially with their functioning or optimal satisfaction in life;
• Provide client centered treatment;
• Serve as a resource to the community in providing personal, family and community education and support programs.

The agency was formed in 1962 by a local chapter of the American Association of University Women after a needs assessment determined that central Lake County was in dire need of a community based counseling service.  Located in Libertyville, YFC provides a safe, trusting and confidential environment in which its clients can be assisted in achieving an improved quality of life.
