March 2009 MARCH NEWS
Spring is Coming
Greetings!
Anxious for spring?  Worn out from dealing with the cold?  While school kids hang on until spring break arrives, YFC therapists continue their commitment to education and support by focusing on a very important issue - bullying.
It Will Never Happen Here
Bullying is a Life and Death Issue
It will never happen here are comforting words that I'm sure many communities, families and friends have said.  But the truth is that bullying and tragic aftermaths happen all the time.  The tragedies are not always the outward violence of shootings.  They can be the inward violence of suicide or emotional injuries and scars.
We must no longer minimize what puts our children's lives in peril.  Find out more about bullying here and here.
Could Your Life Change in Nineteen Minutes?
Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult
Jodi Picoult's book  Nineteen Minutes brings to light relevant questions about bullying as she writes about a school shooting.  It's a great read and Picoult offers insight into the development of her characters' emotions.
There are the bullies, the bullied and the bystanders. . .and the people in their lives and those affected by the consequences that result.  Many are affected in an incident besides the one being bullied.
